66th All India Cooperative Week Celebration 2019 Day 1 : Innovation Through Rural Co-Operatives

Port Blair, Nov 17: The 66th All India Cooperative Week Celebration was inaugurated on 14th Nov, 2019 at A & N State Cooperative Union by Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A & N Islands as the Chief Guest in presence of Representatives of various Apex Level Cooperative, Govt. officials, PRI members and a large gathering of Cooperators.

 

The function started with the paying floral tribute to 130th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India followed by the lightning of traditional lamp.

 

At the outset, Mr. Anant Rao, General Secretary, A&N State Cooperative Union welcomed the Chief Guest and other delegates to the 66th All India Coop. Week Celebration 2019. He further informed the gathering regarding the main theme “Role of Co-operatives in New India and addressing the gathering on day’s topic “Innovation through Rural Co-operatives”.

 

Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands as the Chief Guest of the programme highlighted the Main Theme “Role of Cooperatives in New India” and Innovation through Rural Cooperatives. He informed the gathering bringing innovation in the various field of activities involving co-operative sector, in the Islands such as tourism, fisheries, shell craft, handicraft manufacturing etc. the co-operative movement in these Islands will get boost and will become a major source of employment generation for people of all ages. He expressed the need of large scale participation of co-operative societies in the fisheries sector as the Andaman sea has abundant of fish particularly the Tuna fish which is having a heavy demand in the International market. He appreciated the efforts of A&N Coop. Union for imparting skill training to the Islands in the field of  Tailoring, computer education, Bakery and Beautician course etc so as to make Islanders financially and socially secured for display and selling of the products manufactured by the coop, SHGs, JLG, He announced that possibility of developing a “Marketing Hub” can be explored in the land within the premises of A&N Cooperative Union, Teylerabad and if found feasible in terms of doing profitable business the Marketing Hub can be developed out of MP fund.

He expressed the need of Branding the products which ways & means of improving the quality of our products so that Branding of locally manufactured products can be done, so as to compete with products manufactured in the mainland.

The gathering was also addressed by Mr. R. V. Ramakrishna, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, R.O, Port Blair, Mr. Abdul Rasheed, ARCS, RCS Dept., Mr. K. Murugan, Managing Director, A&N State Coop. Bank Ltd, Mr. R. P. Singh, Secretary, CCS Ltd, Mr. Ravinder Rao, Ex-MD, A&N State Coop. Bank Ltd

The programme ended with the vote of thank proposed by Mr. Swaran Singh, Director, A &N State Coop. Union.
