Andaman & Nicobar Police Organizes a Panel Discussion On Online Financial Fraud Through All India Radio Live Call-In Programme

Port Blair, Jan 19: As part of Police Raising Week celebrations, a Panel discussion on ‘Online Financial Fraud and its Prevention’ was held through All India Radio LIVE Call-in programme on 19/01/2021 at 0715 hrs. The Panel discussion was chaired by Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District. Other panelists were Shri Manoj Kumar Lakra (Manager, SBI Mohanpura), Shri Shamir Akther (Manager, Canara Bank) and Ms. Devasena (Manager, HDFC Bank).

During the discussion, members discussed about various types of online fraud like Spamming, Phishing, Spoofing, Malware, etc. and how people should be beware of such schemes. There has been a spurt in online frauds world-over and with the advent of better connectivity, A&N has also started experiencing it. Andaman Nicobar Police has been creating awareness among the citizens for prevention of such frauds.

The bank officials also explained in detail about the mechanisms of grievance redressal in case of debits which does not involve any lapse on the part of depositor.

The panel alerted people to remain vigilant and cautious and warned people not to share over phone/online involving any kind of details like OTP, CVV number, Credit Card details, personal details like Date of Birth/Aadhar number, etc. A little bit of caution can go a long way in ensuring safe online transactions. Any kind of luring financial schemes promising high returns should always be seen with suspicion.
