Commemoration of Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary: Pad Yatra held to create awareness on eradication of TB & Leprosy

Port Blair, Nov 7: As part of the commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Deputy Education Office, South Andaman in collaboration with Department of Health Services, NYK, RD and NSS organized a Pad Yatra from Cellular Jail to Gandhi Statue via Clock Tower today, to create awareness on eradication of TB and Leprosy.

The Deputy Director Education (Academic/HoO), Shri Sushen Mallick flagged off the Pad Yatra. Addressing the students, he spoke on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and eradication of TB and Leprosy.

About 200 students and teachers of nearby schools participated in the programme along with 50 volunteers of NYK and NSS JNRM. During the Pad Yatra, students shouted slogans and carried placard on eradication of TB and Leprosy provided by the Health Department.
