KVK, N&M Andaman Organizes Training On Pond Based IFS for Doubling Farm Income

Port Blair, Nov 17: ICAR- KVK, N&M Andaman organized three days training programme on Pond based IFS for doubling farm income” from 13th to 15th November 2019 at Pareshnagar under Basantipur Gram Panchayat. The training was conducted in presence of Dr. Parag Deori, SVO, Basantipur, Dr. Pooja Kapoor, SMS (Home Science), Mr. B. L. Meena, SMS (Agronomy), Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS (Fisheries) and participants. In his opening remarks Dr. Parag Deori appreciated KVK, Nimbudera for involving Department of AH&VS in spreading productive and innovative practices among farming community. He also stressed on Integrated farming system as one of the best technology in the Islands for doubling farmer’s income in sustainable and environment friendly way. Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Course Directors of training programme briefed the participants about course contents of trainings including practical demonstrations and film shows.

In the technical sessions of training programme topics covered were Scope of Pond based integrated farming in N&M Andaman, Construction of fish pond under IFS model, Stocking and post stocking management in IFS pond, Preparation of animal and bird house, Poultry & animal rearing on pond dyke, Feed management in integrated farming, Common vegetable cultivation on IFS pond and value addition in farm produce etc by the resource persons Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Dr. Pooja Kapoor, Dr. Parag Deori, Mr. B. L. Meena, and Er. Prasant Pradhan.  Film shows on scientific fish farming practices and hatchery technologies of commercial fishes were showed to the participants.  Preparations of Phase Manure, modified phase manure, farm made feed, KVK pond cleaner etc. were demonstrated to the participants during the programme.  A total of 27 participants attended and benefitted from above training programme.  The programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Pooja Kapoor, In-charge, KVK, N&M Andaman and Dr. B. Gangaiah, Director (Acting), CIARI, Port Blair.
