Port Blair, Sept 11: On 11/09/2020, Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS Central Crime Station received a credible information that few youths of New Wandoor are going to sell venison clandestinely. Immediately a team comprising SI Madhab Halder, Constable Chandran, K. Rajendran and lady Home Guard Meena Rani Sardar were sent to New Wandoor for carrying out the raid. After half an hour, the raiding team noticed that 03 persons were carrying 02 plastic sacks & on seeing the Police team all the 03 person started running. They were chased on suspicion and were intercepted. They were identified as Anup Kumar Mondal R/o New Wandoor, Ashok Kumar Biswas R/o Kalapathar, Sippighat and Sanjay Sikder R/o New Wandoor. It was also found out that Sanjay Sikder is a habitual and a dangerous criminal and 04 cases for violation of PAT regulation have been registered against him.
The plastic sacks were then checked and they were found containing suspected venison in different polythene packs and weighed 17 kilograms. They were asked to produce the licence/documents for keeping venison but they couldn’t produce the same. Accordingly seizure was done U/s 50/51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. The seized venison alongwith detained persons were handed over to Range Officer, Manglutang for further legal action.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, Dy.SP (CID) and overall command and supervision of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP(CID).
