Port Blair, Dec 18: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions orgnaised a public meeting at Mayabunder Bazar on 14.12.2019 evening. The public meeting was organized as part of the territory-wide campaign being undertaken by the CITU to highlight the demands for the All India Strike on 8th January, 2020.
Addressing the public meeting, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee came down heavily on the BJP-led central government for purusing the anti-working class policies. He said that the BJP government is committed to privatise almost all the public sector undertakings including public sector banks one by one.
He further said that the government is either repealing the existing pro-worker labour laws or bringing in new laws to take away the benefits enjoyed by the working class in the country. This is being done to please the corporate sector. He said that the Daily Rated Mazdoors working in APWD are being put to unnecessary harassment by the authorities.
Addressing the meeting, SP Kalairajan, Vice President of CITU State Committee criticized the Administration for denying various rightful benefits to the workers working in various departments. BC Bhattacharjee, Vice President, CITU State Committee, Shipra Bala, Secretary, CITU State Committee, Ramesh Pradhan, Vice President, Mayabunder Branch Committee of ASNVMS and Gopikulam also addressed the meeting.
