Port Blair, June 24: Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, GoI & Director General, ICAR, currently on visit to these Islands, yesterday called on the Lt. Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Niwas and held discussion. The Secretary to LG, Dr. A.K Singla was also present on the occasion.
During the course of the discussion, the Lt Governor desired that appropriate confluence of policy & technology and frequent interaction between research institutes, A&N Administration officials, extension workers and farmers may be assured to ensure that research work carried out in laboratories percolates down to the common man.
Further, the Lt Governor desired that CIARI should help A&N Administration in exploring deep sea fishing opportunities and preparing a blue print to make these Islands fully organic.
