Safety Measures and Education of Children of Child Care Institutions Reviewed by chairman DCPU (SA)

Port Blair Apr 07 : Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, Chairman DCPU(SA)/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman met all stakeholders and reviewed the crucial mattersregarding the security and education of children at Child Care Institutions. The Chairman reiterated that the Administration shall endeavour to secure the rights of children deprived of parental care, by ensuring family and community-based care arrangements including sponsorship, kinship, foster care and adoption, with due regard to the best interests of the child and guaranteeing quality standards of care and protection.
The Superintendents/Officer In-charges of all the Child Care Institutions of South Andaman District along with Mr. KalaivananR, SDPO (SA), Director (Education) Mr. Kamlesh Kumar, Director Social Welfare, Mr. Aditya Kumar Jha, Nodal Officer (Integrated Child Protection Scheme), Chairperson and Member(s) of Child Welfare Committee (South Andaman), and officials of District Child Protection Unit (SA) were present.
It was reiterated that the Administration is focussed and committed for the safety and security of children in Child Care Institutions.The Chairman firmly pointed out that no lapsesin this regard will be tolerated and severe action will be taken against the perpetrator. The officials of the District Child Protection Unit have been directed to conduct immediate inspection of all the Child Care Institutions to check the security arrangements and lapses if any found, to be brought to the notice for immediate rectification.
All the CCI(s) should ensure that they have security personnel and CCTVsare installed and functional at all the key points. Further high rise boundary walls and engagement of adequate staffs to provide proper care to the children should also be ensured.
The Chairman DCPU(SA)/Deputy Commissioner (SA) directed the Police authorities to conduct regularpatrolling near the Child Care Institutions especially during the night hours. The Director of Education was directed to come up with some innovative ideas for providing some alternative solution on education for children staying at CCI.
Apart from the security measures, the Deputy Commissioner (SA) strictly instructed the Superintendents/In-charge to maintain the Basic Standards of CCI, especially providing food on time to the children.
