Port Blair, Nov 14: Commissioner-cum-Secretary (PWD) Mr. Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS along with Dy. Commissioner(SA), Superintendent of Police(SA) went through NH from Bhathubhasti Junction to Ferrargunj Junction to inspect the status of repair , maintenance and widening of ATR being undertaken by NHIDCL. Commissioner (PWD) also conducted a meeting with the PRI members including Pradhans of Ferrargunj, Tushnabad, Mithakahri, Chouldhari, Namunaghar, Brindaban Gram Panchayats, Social workers , , Zilla Parishad Member Tushnabad, Mr. Nelson Ex- Pradhan Ferrargunj , Ex- Zilla Parishad Member, Tushnabad and the general public in the Panchayat office Ferrargunj. Besides, the Dy. Commissioner, SA, Superintendent of Police, SA, Executive Engineer RCD, General Manager, NHIDCL were also present. Details overview was presented by GM, NHIDCL about the repair and maintenance and widening work of ATR to the gathering. He informed that the patch work for the road from Dhanikhari to Ferrargunj has been started and shall be expedited. For the stretch of road from Bhathubasti to Dhanikhari Junction over laying another layer shall also be started by 15th November 2017. He further announced that widening of the road shall commence by the month end and shall be over by May 2018 from the stretch of 12 km to 45 km.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary(PWD) announce that a committee shall be formed under the Chairmanship of Dy. Commissioner(SA) which shall include representative from PRIs and general public to monitor and oversee the progress of repair and maintenance of ATR. Committee shall meet once in every fortnight and shall take inputs and views from PRIs on various issue relating to ATR. PRIs and general public is requested to cooperate with the NHIDCL and Administration so that the construction works of ATR could be carried out smoothly.
