Port Blair, June 06: On receipt of complaint regarding stolen arecanuts from the house of Shri Raju Adhikari resident of Shantipur, Billiground an FIR under relevant section of IPC was registered at PS Billiground. The Police team swung into action and recovered 08 gunny bags of stolen arecanuts weighing about 87 kgs and later on 03 persons were arrested for stealing arecanuts and 02 for dishonestly purchasing stolen property. During the investigation it was revealed that between 18/05/2019 to 30/05/2019 the complainant was at Port Blair for his mother’s treatment and knowing that the house was empty three boys namely Saurav Biswas, Binod Biswas and Saurabh Halder of Billiground area took the opportunity and stole 08 gunny bags of arecanuts weighing about 87 Kgs from the house of complainant and later sold it to 02 shopkeepers namely Bipul Mistry and Ujjal Paul of Billiground for Rs 6400/- whereas the market value of the stolen arecanuts is about Rs 15,500/-. Later they were produced before the court of law from where they were sent to judicial custody.
