Port Blair, Dec 17: Vijay Diwas was celebrated on 16th Dec 17 to commemorate the 48th anniversary of Victory in 1971 Indo-Pak War with a Wreath Laying Ceremony at Brichgunj Military Station. The event was attended by veterans and serving personnel meant to pay homage to our martyrs. Brig. Gaurav Gautam, Commander108 Mountain Brigade presided over the function. Some of the veterans recounted their days and inspired present generation soldiers with their exploits in the erstwhile East Pakistan along with Mukti Bahini and also on the Western Front.
The event was organized by 12th Battalion of the JAT Regiment which had participated in the action of 1971 Indo-Pak War in the Eastern Theatre. Later, the Army Component Commander interacted with veterans and serving personnel over a cup of tea and urged them to be combat ready at all times.
