Special Court under POCSO Act, Mayabunder Convicts One Accused For Life

Mayabunder, Mar 24: A Special Court under POCSO ACT has sentenced one accused to undergo imprisonment for life for the offence punishable under section 6 of POCSO Act and provision under section 376 IPC and also to pay fine of Rs.2,00,000/- who raped, ravished and sexually exploited an innocent minor girl child. As a result of which victim girl became pregnant.
The prosecution case as bring out and envisioned by the written statement lodged by the victim herself against the culprit at the Mayabunder Police Station.
As per an release, the case was initiated against the accused on 23/10/2020 and the prosecution has sufficiently proved that the accused person has committed the offence under section 6 of POCSO Act,2012 r.w.s 376 IPC for committing rape and aggravated penetrative sexual assault to a minor girl of fifteen years.
Accordingly, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Additional Sessions Judge -cum- Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has found guilty the accused person namely Mukesh Bhengra (26 years), S/o Shri. Raghu Bhengra R/o Karmatang -10 under Mayabunder Police Station and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for life for the offence punishable under section 6 of POCSO Act and provision under section 376 IPC and also to pay fine of Rs.2,00,000/- (rupees two lakhs only), out of which 90 percent amount is to be paid to the victim girl as compensation under section 357 Cr.P.C, in default of payment which he will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year more.
For the rehabilitation of victim girl, an amount of Rs.5,00,000/- (rupees five lakhs) has been awarded as compensation as per provision u/sec. 357A read with section 33 (8) of POCSO Act which will be paid by the Government from Government fund as provided under 7(4) of POCSO rule.
The entire case was investigated by SI Mariam of Police Station Mayabunder which was appreciated for good performance. The prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Keshab Ch. Mondal, Learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO Act.
