64th All India Cooperative Week-2017 inaugurated

Port Blair, Nov 14: The 64th All India Cooperative Week-2017 (14th to 20th Nov, 2017) was inaugurated by Smti. Rashmi Singh, Secretary (Cooperation)-cum-RCS, A & N Administration on 14th November, 2017 at A & N State Coop. Union premises, Taylerabad.

The Chief Guest Smti. Rashmi Singh inaugurated the Cooperative Week by hoisting the Cooperative flag and visited the various stalls of the SHGs at the premises of the function. The Chief Guest and other dignitaries garlanded flowers over the portrait of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
At the welcome address, Mr. Surender Nath Singh, Project Officer, NCUI welcomed all the delegates to the 64th All India Coop. Week Celebration 2017. He further informed all people present on the occasion that All India Cooperative Week is a weeklong programme for 7 days at different places on different topics to promote the message of Cooperative movement across the Island. He further added that there are tremendous scope and opportunity in cooperative sector for various works.

Dr. N. Rajavel, HOD, Commerce, JNRM spoke on the topic: Good Governance and Professionalization”. He also outlined the various Regulations for strict compliance in cooperative sector. He also highlighted the Accountancy and Cost Management courses introduced at JNRM recently. He also highlighted the gist of Cooperative Governance which is highly instrumental in Cooperative sector. He emphasized the means and methods of Strengthening Cooperatives by transparency and accountability. He also highlighted the various parameters of Professionalization and pointed that Governance means maximum utilization. He also emphasized that there has to be an Advisory Committee to guide the Coop. societies which shall consists of Directors, Academician, Consumers and Financial Institutions as a member to strengthen the coop. societies in Professionalism. In his address, he appreciated the effort the A &N State Cooperative Union in disseminating the messages of Cooperative movement across the Island.
He further appreciated the various courses undertaken by A & N State Cooperative Union in imparting knowledge to various beneficiaries. Mr. Abdul Rasheed, ARCS also spoke on the occasion on the topic “Good Governance and Professionalization” by highlighting the seven basic principles and values of cooperative movement i.e open & voluntary membership, Member’s democratic Control, Member’s economic participation, Independence & Autonomy, Information training & Education, Cooperation in Cooperatives, Concern for Community.

The Chief Guest Smt. Rashmi Singh & Mr. T N Meena, DRCS handed over the certificates to the candidates who have successfully completed Computer courses, Tailoring & Fashion Designing and Beauty Parlor.
Smti. Rashmi Singh, Secretary Cooperation cum RCS in her key note address thanked A & N State Cooperative Union and all other Cooperative Institution in organizing the 64th All India Cooperative
Week 2017. She further highlighted that today being the Birth Anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru is one of the noble day to commence the Cooperative Week celebration along with the Children’s Day. She appreciated the efforts of A & N State Coop. Union in exhibiting SHG mela of creativity and true spirit of Cooperatives. She also appreciated that the works done by SHGs is a demand driven task which will yield business opportunities for them. She also highlighted the examples of AMUL and Lizzat Pappad as successful Cooperative Entrepreneurs. She also added that A & N Administration has got lots of schemes for the promotion of handicraft and various other products which will be of immense useful to the groups. She further requested the A & N State Coop. Union to add new modules like PowerPoint Presentation courses in their Computer Courses. At the end, she once again wished all the Cooperatives for a week long successful programme celebration.

The programme was also attended by Mr. T.N. Meena, DRCS, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Chairman, A & N State Cooperative Union, Officials of Cooperative Department, Representatives of various Apex level Cooperative Institutions, Senior Cooperators, Media persons, SHG members and a large gathering of people.

The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anant Rao, General Secretary, A & N State Coop. Union.
