Admiral D K Joshi (Retd.) sworn in as the 13th Lt. Governor of A& N Islands

Port Blair, Oct 08: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) assumed the office as the 13th Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today. At a formal swearing-in-ceremony held at Raj Niwas here this afternoon, Justice Mr. Rakesh Tiwari, acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to the new Lt Governor. Admiral Joshi has also been designated as Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency, for which separate orders were issued in June 2017. The Chief Secretary, Shri Anindo Majumdar read out the Warrant of Appointment. Soon after the swearing-in-ceremony, the Contingent of A&N Police presented Guard of Honour to the Lt Governor. Later, the Lt Governor also interacted with the people and guests present on the occasion.

The First Lady of the Islands, Smt. Chitra Joshi & other family members of the Lt Governor and a good number of dignitaries participated in the swearing-in-ceremony. The swearing-in-ceremony was also attended among others by the Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, BJP State President, Shri Vishal Jolly, Commander-in-Chief, ANC, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, Adhyaksh ZPSA, Shri Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Chairperson PBMC, Shri Indra Pal Singh, Senior Officers from the Defence and Civil Administration, Councilors of PBMC, PRI members, leaders of the Political Parties, prominent citizens and general public.
