ANPCC seizes more than 9000 PET Bottles below 2 Litres

Port Blair, Dec.17: The Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee, Department of Science & Technology continuing its efforts of enforcing compliance of the provisions made under Notification No. 186 dated 05.09.2019 for protection of the environment against single use plastic items is regularly conducting surprise checks in various shops and factories. An enforcement team under supervision of Member Secretary, ANPCC visited M/s Andaman & Nicobar Mineral Water Pvt. Ltd, Brand: Kingfisher, New Bimblitan, Port Blair on December 17, 2019 and seized banned single use plastic items such as Pre form for 1 litre – 9 bags, ½ litre unfilled bottles (Approx 750-800)/bag – 4 bags, 1 litre unfilled bottles (Approx 500-600)/bag – 3 bags, ½ litre filled bottles – 2316 bottles, 1 litre filled bottles – 156 bottles and 250 ml filled bottles – 1356 bottles. A total number of approximately 9000 PET bottles were seized.

The Department of Science and Technology plans to further intensify enforcement activities in the coming week. Therefore, all the traders, dealers and shopkeepers are hereby directed to not bring any plastic item banned under Notification No. 186 dated 05.09.2019 or otherwise should ready to face penal actions and closure.
