Port Blair, Sept 23: To take first hand stock of the ground situation and arrangements required to be made for preparing COVID Care Centres and to ensure preparedness in the fight against COVID-19 in the inter islands, the Deputy Commissioner (SA), Mr. Suneel Anchipaka alongwith the SDM(SA) and the AC(U/T) today visited the Little Andaman Island.
The team during the visit met with the Zilla Parishad Member, Pramukh, and Pradhans and appealed for the support of the PRIs in the fight against the pandemic.
The team further visited the Primary Health Centres at Hutbay and RK Pur and the Sub Centre at Harminder Bay and handed over 200 COVID medicine kits to tackle the pandemic, in addition to the gloves, masks, PPE kits and oximeters which were sent to the PHC, Hutbay last week.
The team also identified locations for setting up of COVID Care Centre and also identified boundaries of the declared Containment Zones. The DC(SA) also took up various developmental issues of the island with the PRIs during the interaction.
It was assured by the DC(SA) that the District Administration is fully committed in the fight against the pandemic in the inter islands and would provide all necessary assistance in this regard. Further the importance of the two GOLDEN PRINCIPLES of COVID-19: (1) Wear masks properly (2) Maintain social distancing/Do gaz ki doori was also emphasized in the interactions.
