Port Blair, Oct 05: According to a communication received here from Coast Guard, the recent weather forecast indicates a low pressure area is likely to develop over North Andaman sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal around 09 Oct 20. It is likely to move north-westwards towards north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha Coasts with gradual intensification into a depression during subsequent 2-3 days.
The Indian Coast Guard has reportedly shared the weather information with civil administration including fisheries authorities. The Coast Guard Stations at various locations in A & N Region, in coordination with local fisheries authorities, are sensitizing the fishing community on persisting rough seas/inclement weather at sea and urging the fishermen to refrain from moving out to sea from 08 Oct to 12 Oct 20. The Coast Guard vessels on deployment are sensitizing fishermen at sea and guiding them to return harbour. All Coast Guard establishments and ships in A & N Region have been alerted and directed to maintain highest state of preparedness to meet any contingency.
