Port Blair, Oct 05: On 27.08.2020, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament had requested the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India to open Examination Centre at Port Blair for conducting NEET –PG examination from the year 2021 onwards since Online/ Computer Based Test facilities are available at Port Blair which will save the time and other expenses for the aspiring candidates of undergraduate doctors from A&N Islands.
In this regard he expressed that the undergraduate/MBBS doctors working at different Health centres at far flung Islanders including in South Andaman who desirous to appear the said examination are facing various difficulties for attending NEET – PG examination at mainland due to non availability of examination centre at Port Blair who are required to proceed mainland after taking leave by incurring time and travel expenses etc.
Apart from this number of candidates aspiring to appear NEET – PG examinations are also increasing in A&N Islands due to passing out of the first batch of MBBS doctors from the Medical College of Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 2021 onwards who are also to face the same problems.
In response to the request made by MP, the National Board of Examination, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare vide their communication No.NBE/EDO/2020/457 dated 29.09.2020 has informed Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, MP, A&N Islands that the National Board of Examination shall take necessary steps to designate Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair or any other suitable computer based test (CBT) centre for conducting NEET – PG Examination centre 2021 session onwards at Port Blair, A&N Islands so that the aspiring candidates of A&N Islands do not face any hardship to attend such examination.
