ANCOL students visit One Stop Centre ARUNODAYA

Port Blair, Oct 09: The field visit of BSc Psychology students of Andaman College has been arranged under the guidance Mr. V. Sridharan & Dr. Sheetal Anoop Guest Lecturers of Psychology Department to One Stop Centre, Arunodaya under the Department of Social Welfare on 7th Oct, 2017 as part of curriculum.
The purpose of visit was to enhance practical knowledge on application of psychology in counseling, Medical, Legal, Short term temporary shelter and other services provided by Arunodaya.
Mrs. Santhi Murugesan, Centre Administrator explained the student about all the functions of Arunodaya and Case study on Bi-Polar Depression victim. The students were given knowledge in the field of child Abuse, Absconding, Alcohol Addiction, Suicide, Child Marriage, Depression, Domestic Violence, Drug Abuse, and Adultery, Physical m& Mental Harassment, Sexual Abuse, Molestation, Child Care & Protection etc.
Mr. Rakesh Biswas & Sheetal Moorthy delivered speech on Legal services provided to the victims with detailed Indian Penal Code, Domestic Violence Act 2005, and POCSO 2012 etc
Mrs. D. Amina & Deepali Biswas shared their experiences in psychological Counseling with the students. Student also visited the temporary shelter and collected the details for case study from the experts for the concerned courses.
