First Shaheed S.I Sanjeev Volleyball tournament Organized by Nicobar Police

Port Blair, Feb 03: First Shaheed S.I Sanjeev memorial Volley ball tournament organised  by Nicobar Police under its Yuva initiative of Andaman & Nicobar Police has been a huge success. Martyr Sanjeev was a Sub Inspector of Andaman & Nicobar Police who did the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on the fateful day of 26.12.2004 ( day of tsunami in A & N Islands).

More than 40 volleyball teams of villages of Car Nicobar- Tamaloo, Mallaca, Mus,Tapoiming , Chuckchuka, IAF, Police, ITI etc participated in the tournament. The tournament has been  conducted  for during almost  the month of January.

 

The level of response received from public was unprecedented and an audience of more than 1000 persons came to see the semi finals and final match on 02.02.2020.In senior men Tamaloo village defeated Chukchuka village in three sets andin women’s category  Tapoiming village defeated Tamaloo village in two straight sets. Similarly in under 17 boys GSSS Lapathy defeated GSS Mus and in girls GSSS Malacca defeated GSS Mus.

The chief guest for the first Sanjeev memorial volleyball tournament was Lionel Nicomede, Vice Chief Captain, Tribal council Car Nicobar and the guest of honour was Regional Wacthful, Dy Vice Chief Captain, Tribal Council.

The tournament was organized with the sincere efforts of Nicobar Police.
