Awareness programme on schemes for women at Mayabunder and Diglipur held

Port Blair, July 11: Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) is meant to provide “one stop convergent support service for empowering rural women with opportunities for skill development, employment, digital literacy, health and nutrition”. Student Volunteers will encourage the spirit of voluntary community service and gender equality. These student volunteers will serve as “agents of change” and have a lasting impact on their communities and the nations.

Mahila Shakti Kendra, under the Directorate of Social Welfare organised awareness program on various schemes for women.  The awareness program was conducted involving CDPO, Mukhya Sevikas (ICDS), Asha workers, Anganwadi workers. Some of the SHG groups were also present. The program was conducted at Pahalgaon Gram Panchayat under Mayabunder Tehsil on 06/07/2019, and at the APWD Conference hall Subashgram under Diglipur Tehsil on 7/7/19. Various Anganwadi centres were visited on 8/7/19.

Smt. Nitika Dev, State Project Coordinator (MSK) and Smt. Reshma Singh, Training Officer (MSK) under the Department of Social Welfare were the speakers and spoke about the various govt. schemes for women and their needs for training were also highlighted. There were a total of 70 participants, where, 30 were from Mayabunder and 40 from Diglipur, including Anganwadi staff and local rural women of the area.
